I make documentaries and various kinds of artworks. I wouldn’t typically call them that, but I’m told ‘artworks’ is more respectable than what I prefer to say: I make things. The person who told me to call them artworks would say that it defeats the purpose of this website to reveal my preference. This whole thing is basically ruined now.
I was raised in Northern California, up in the Redwoods. I went to USC for writing, then worked as a film editor for a long time before transitioning to visual effects design and documentary, because that allowed me to work at home and not in editing bays with film producers. If you’ve never spent a long period of time in an editing bay with a producer, take my word for it: it’s better to be unemployed.
